Patricia I Carney, MD, MA, FACOG, is the Global Medical Affairs Strategy Lead for Maternal Health with Organon, a position she has held for the past two years. Prior to her role at Organon, Dr. Carney held various positions in the pharmaceutical/device industry in US/Global Medical Affairs, Clinical Development, Global Safety/Pharmacovigilance, and Business Development, at Organon, Bayer Healthcare, and Merck & Co., Inc.
Dr. Carney received her MD degree from George Washington University, Washington, DC (US) where she also completed her residency in obstetrics and gynecology. She spent several years as a private practice physician and department chair before entering academic medicine, including time spent as a residency program director and director of resident research. During this time, she also served as an oral board examiner with the American Board of Obstetrics and Gynecology (ABOG) as well as a member of the USMLE Step 3 Computer-based Simulation Test Material Development Committee. In addition to her medical degree, Dr. Carney has a master’s degree in clinical psychology as well as a post-graduate certificate in Epidemiology and Biostatistics.
