Emma Gilmore is part of the Complex Family Planning division at the University of Pennsylvania, where she completed her Complex Family Planning fellowship in June 2023. Her interests include medical and surgical education, addressing healthcare disparities, and providing comprehensive, equitable reproductive healthcare to her patients. She is a junior fellow at the Leonard Davis Institute of Health Economics, and directs the Ryan Program at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania, which supports and enhances family planning training for residents in obstetrics and gynecology. As a fellow, her research was focused on using cost metrics and qualitative data to increase access to abortion and early pregnancy loss services.
Dr Gilmore attended medical school at Columbia College of Physicians and Surgeons in New York City, where she first became acquainted with the field of Complex Family Planning and spent time working with the division at that site. She completed her residency in Obstetrics and Gynecology at New York University and her fellowship in Complex Family Planning at the University of Pennsylvania. She obtained her undergraduate degree from New York University in political science and photography.
