Prof. Simcha Yagel is a senior consultant and former Head of the Division of Obstetrics and Gynecology of the Hadassah-Hebrew University Medical Centers in Jerusalem and the OB/Gyne Ultrasound Unit. He served as editor of Ultrasound in Obstetrics and Gynecology and on the ISUOG Board and is the 2021 recipient of the prestigious Ian Donald Gold Medal, awarded annually by ISUOG. He has published over 400 basic and clinical research articles: in the clinical sphere his work focuses primarily on 3D/4D ultrasound of the fetal cardiovascular and other organ systems; expanding the timing of early targeted organ scanning and fetal echocardiography to coincide with the NT window; and developing an integrated model of two distinct phenotypes of preeclampsia. His team has embraced AI to develop predictive algorithms for obstetric care and are now performing a randomized controlled trial of an AI-based algorithm in the labor ward.
