Dr. Akos Herzeg is a MFM specialist, fetal surgeon and an assistant professor within the OBGYN Department/Center for Fetal Therapy, Goethe University of Frankfurt, Germany. He is currently completing a research fellowship at the UCSF Center for Maternal-Fetal Precision Medicine (Tippi Mackenzie, MD).
Dr. Herzeg has extensively trained in prenatal medicine and fetal therapy with a focus on Special Obstetrics and Prenatal Medicine (DEGUM II). His expertise includes managing complicated monochorionic twins, complex multiple gestations, high-risk pregnancies, fetal Spinal dysraphism. He also holds a MBA in Healthcare Administration with a concentration in the Management of Centers of Excellence. Dr. Herzeg has led the development and clinical oversight of the Center for Fetal Surgery at the University of Heidelberg, Germany. Currently at UCSF is working on developing fetal molecular therapies with a particular interest in fetal gene therapies and intrauterine enzyme replacement therapies.
