Dr. Bonilla Moreno is a dedicated Resident Physician at Tulane University School of Medicine's Department of OBGYN. Dr. Bonilla Moreno played a pivotal role in creating and launching a National registry and biorepository aimed at identifying biomarkers for amniotic fluid embolism, in collaboration with the Amniotic Fluid Embolism Foundation. His expertise extended to evaluating the use of next-generation sequencing versus traditional methods for pathogen identification in neonatal sepsis, highlighting his commitment to advancing neonatal care.
Dr. Bonilla Moreno's research endeavors also included investigating the association between morbid BMI and post-surgical pain, assessing the prevalence of mycoplasma genitalium in high-risk pregnant patients, and comparing molecular technologies to current CDC STD treatment guidelines in perinatal syphilis. His dedication to maternal and neonatal health was further exemplified by his involvement in a study evaluating maternal and neonatal outcomes with the establishment of telehealth during the COVID-19 pandemic.
Dr. Bonilla Moreno's research has been recognized and presented at numerous prestigious conferences, including the Society of Gynecologic Surgeons Annual Scientific Meeting, the ACOG Annual Clinical & Scientific Meeting, and the Society for Maternal-Fetal Medicine Annual Pregnancy Meeting. His scholarly contributions also extend to publications on topics such as cystic fibrosis carrier status, antenatal detection, and demographic and obstetrical risk factors associated with perinatal Syphilis treatment and surveillance.
Beyond his professional accomplishments, Dr. Bonilla Moreno is a self-taught ukulele player, an avid outdoor enthusiast who enjoys hiking and skydiving, a theater aficionado, and a trivia buff. He balances his rigorous schedule with activities that reduce stress and promote wellness.
