Assistant Professor Maternal Fetal Medicine
University of Connecticut
Elizabeth Morgan, MD, MS, FACOG is an assistant professor at the University of Connecticut, and is also affiliated with the Fetal Care Center at Connecticut Children's Medical Center in Hartford, CT. As a physician scientist with a background in molecular biology and clinical research, she has a focus on the effects of maternal psychosocial stress and structural inequities and their roles in the pathophysiology of chronic disease.
She also has a background in global health, pandemic preparedness and infectious diseases, and has served on the global health committee with the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine through her fellowship. She is now serving on the reproductive health committee with a continued focus on reproductive rights and health care access. This background has informed her understanding of healthcare delivery in resource poor settings, and the economic disparities that create barriers to health care provision. She hopes to demonstrate dysregulation of placental function in response to increased stress, stratified by socioeconomic background and ethincity, causes changes in fetal programming, poorer perinatal outcomes, and increases in long term chronic disease with a goal to improve the way we provide both physical and mental health care for our patients.
