General Meeting Information

Wednesday, 25 September through Saturday, 28 September. Postgraduate courses will take place on Wednesday, 25 September, with exhibits opening on Thursday, 26 September. The Global Congress program, which includes all the abstract presentations, will begin on Thursday, 26 September.

The official language of the SMFM Global Congress is English.

Courses require additional registration and additional registration fees. Included in the extra registration fee, lunch will be provided for Postgraduate Course registrants and a coffee break. All the hotels SMFM has secured for the Congress offer breakfast as part of their room rate package, so SMFM encourages attendees to eat breakfast before they attend the courses. Coffee and light pastries will be provided.

The Global Congress will be an in-person meeting, and no, there will not be a virtual component.

Cancellations received via email (globalcongress@smfm.org) prior to Monday, 19 August 2024 will receive a full refund, less a $75 administrative fee.   Cancellations received after 19 August 2024 will not be eligible for a refund.   Refunds will be credited back to the original credit card used for payment.   Substitutions are permitted at no cost.   Substitutions and any changes that require removing any items from your registration must be sent via email (globalcongress@smfm.org) for processing. 

Registration and Pricing Information

VAT stands for “Value Added Tax.” To enable SMFM to conduct business in Rome as a foreign entity, SMFM is legally required to collect and pay VAT on all registrations and registration fees. All registration prices are listed in USD and are inclusive of VAT, which for Italy, is a rate of 22%.

We are using a tiered registration model for the SMFM Global Congress. To secure the best rate, please register during the Early Bird period (May through 12 July) or during the Standard Registration period (13 July through 31 August). Discounts are also available for certain membership categories and will be reflected in the pricing shown during registration after logging in. If you are currently practicing in a Low- or Middle-Income Country (LMIC) and would like to apply for additional travel support, we are pleased to announce that the Foundation for SMFM is offering a Global Congress Travel Scholarship. All plenary and concurrent sessions, poster presentations, networking events, exhibits, and industry-sponsored sessions are included in your Global Congress registration fee.

Postgraduate courses are not included in your Global Congress registration fee and must be purchased separately during the registration process. There are no CMEs available with postgraduate courses.

Yes. All meeting participants, including course faculty, concurrent session speakers, plenary speakers, and abstract authors for both oral and poster presentations, must register for the Global Congress.

Yes. All meeting participants must register for the Global Congress.

No. Postgraduate Course faculty are not required to register for the abstract sessions portion of the meeting. Registration for the course in which you are presenting will be complimentary, and your registration for the course will be managed by program staff.

We are not collecting preregistration for these agenda items. Those registered for the Global Congress are welcome to attend the sessions of their choice.
